Since 2015, an electronic visa issuance scheme has been in place for India, first called "e-Tourist Visa" and later renamed "e-Visa", operational in 5 ports and 29 airports across India. In March 2019, e-Visas became even more flexible, allowing stays of up to 90 days (Tourism) or even 180 days (Business) in India.

By abuse of language, it is also called "Visa on Arrival", even though the e-Visa must be applied for before boarding the plane to India and no e-Visa is issued on site. Everything is done entirely online, you don't have to send anything by mail and you don't have to travel. The "e-Visa" can be requested on this form. Photocopies of the passport and a passport photo will be sent once the application is completed and paid. The agreement is materialized by the receipt of a travel authorization in electronic form (PDF) that should be printed and presented at the airport of arrival to obtain the final visa in his passport and fingerprinting.

The e-Visa is valid for applicants holding a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival for each stay in India. No registration with FRRO (Foreigners Regional Registration Office) is required for these e-Visas. The details of the fees are explained on the next page.

What you need to know about the India e-Visa

Any French citizen wishing to travel outside the European Union must obtain a visa in order to legally enter the desired territory. The visa, whether it is electronic or more traditional, is issued by the competent authorities of the country where you wish to go, and constitutes proof of authorization to visit that country for a specific period of time, generally set at 90 days.

If you intend to visit India, you will need to obtain an e-visa before you even arrive there. An e-visa scheme was introduced in 2015 for India to facilitate people's access to India via multiple entry points(ports and airports, not land points).

As of March 2019, e-Visas for India have become more flexible and now allow travelers to visit India for single or multiple entry stays and stay for up to 90 days at a time for tourism, and up to 180 days if it is a business trip. If you wish to benefit from an e-Visa for India, Visamundi can assist you in your application thanks to its expertise in handling visa applications from professionals and individuals.
